| (the movie) Twilight's focus on blood... | [ test ] | Friday 28 November 11:21 | Quoted from Eric Barger's excellent article....
Leviticus 17 tells us that life is in the blood. This Old Testament teaching from The Law finds unfathomable depths of meaning when one thinks of what Christ's blood represents for all who will believe.
Satan is very interested in the mockery of God's Word, His name and His Cross. Lucifer, as with vampires, is blood thirsty. He would love nothing more than to deceive young, impressionable people - whom God loves and Jesus died for - into somehow believing that eternal life can be attained some other way than through Jesus and His once-for-all sacrifice on Calvary.
Until the final battle has been fought and the Lord has come with His everlasting and perfect peace, Satan will attempt to prevail through manipulating those who he may. Stephenie Meyer is just one in a long line of those who, without any understanding of it, the Evil One has paid big money to for their services. Twilight is more than mere entertainment. To some it has become every bit as important and as captivating as a religion.
The most famous line from the book and movie is Edward Cullen's statement to Bella "And so the lion fell in love with the lamb." This is Meyer's crafty, yet sick play upon biblical words. The truth is that when Satan is vanquished and evil is defeated, then and only then will the lion and the lamb live in harmony - not as a hundred year old vampire and his wanna-be girlfriend. While Meyer's character Bella so flippantly decides that nothing is more important than spending eternity with Edward - regardless of the consequences, shouldn't we be focused on our future eternity with God and on introducing as many to Him before it is too late? |
| Be Thankful - to God ! | [ moderator_chat ] | Thursday 27 November 09:20 | It was disappointing to me to read Pres Bush's letter of thanks, not mentioning God once. To be thankful without God is nuts, as He is the source. And even in the middle of this economic "crisis" this humanism brings to us who ignore God, we are still blessed.
We give thanks to thee, Lord God Almighty, who art and who wast, that thou hast taken thy great power and begun to reign.
Have a great day of thanks! |
| Petition against Abortion as a "right" like Free Speech | [ moderator ] | Thursday 20 November 13:00 | Below is a link to a petition to fight the Freedom of
Choice Act which president elect Obama is on the record as stating will
be the first piece of legislation he signs into law. FOCA would
establish the right to abortion as a fundamental right (like the right
to free speech) and wipe away every restriction on abortion
nationwide. It will eradicate state and federal abortion laws that the
majority of Americans support and prevent states from enacting similar
protective measures in the future.
Please take a minute to sign this petition and then FORWARD to your
friends and family. We know from past experiences that a STRONG voice
to our government officials is not easily ignored. As we petition
heaven for the unborn, let's put action to our prayers and sign this
petition as an act of faith. Please read the expert analysis by
Americans United for Life (AUL) and sign the Fight FOCA petition at:

| An update on the free BibleTime software for Linux, Mac and Windows | [ c_lug ] | Saturday 08 November 09:27 | BibleTime is a Bible study application for Linux. It is based on the K Desktop Environment and uses the Sword programming library to work with Bible texts, commentaries, dictionaries and books provided by the Crosswire Bible Society.
BibleTime 1.7beta has been released as a source package. Much work has been done since the first alpha release.
Though this version is labeled as beta it is completely usable and should be stable for daily work. It is beta only because it still has some minor missing features, minor inconsistencies due to lacking KDE->Qt port and because it has not been widely tested.
After KDE 4
Though the KDE 4 port is good news for the KDE fans out there we have also bad news for them: we will abandon the KDE platform and move to a Qt-only solution. Our purpose is to make BibleTime platform independent so that it can be used under Windows and MacOS X without installing KDE. This is of course good news to many who have not been using that great but bulky desktop environment.
This change has already been started and at the moment it can be seen in many small details. Even some major functions like keyboard shortcut editor have been disabled. It will take time to write them again using Qt only and some of them may never come back.
Help!
Last but not least, we need your help. There are more plans than time or people. Whatever you skill is, we might be able to find something to do for you. Important skills include C++, Qt (also with Windows/Mac!), cmake, HTML/CSS, graphics, testing, usability, translating and English (native skill needed for UI strings). If you know one or more of these (or something else) or are even just learning please contact us. You don't have to be a guru to start C++/Qt coding, many of us have started with very little knowlegde. And as already said, we need prayer. That might even be the most important help you can give.

| A dream about Satan's influence spreading... | [ bible1year ] | Saturday 08 November 07:55 | After watching Barack Obama's 2008 Presidential Election acceptance speech, I was bothered by my attitude towards the whole thing, because I saw people who were almost worshipful towards Obama - it was as much or more admiration than we give God at church. And I went to bed asking God to help me understand what was wrong. And I had this dream:
I saw a snake enter into a man, and that man became evil, and Satan took control of his thoughts - his mind/head seemed to appear like yellow vertical streaks.
Then I saw a huge octopus whose tentacles spread through many rooms of a building or home, and the octopus was as tall as the building. A small glowing-yellow satanic snake inched its way along the octopus' tentacles, from the right side of the house, to the left (as I faced it), and the snake approached a man lying in a bed. The snake entered into the bottom of the man's left foot, and was headed into his body when the dream ended.
I don't fully understand the dream yet, but I believe God was warning me to be careful how I thought of and viewed Obama - not to wonder at him, because Satan wants to find a way into our lives. Don't be caught sleeping spiritually as Satan begins to inch his way across our nation. |
| Google stops censoring Christian ads | [ cu ] | Friday 19 September 08:56 | Many people have been getting critical of Google, the dominant search engine, simply because it's so big. Others have complained that people have no privacy anymore, because Google search can reveal shocking amounts of personal information about individuals. (Which is hardly fair to Google, since it's not the only search engine in the world, just the most popular. If it wasn't around, people would still be using AltaVista or Yahoo or something.) What I haven't seen people complaining about is the potential for Google to censor the Internet, by deciding what information users may or may not see. In March, Google refused to show ads about abortion placed by the Christian Institute. (more) |
| Time for Revival | [ healing ] | Monday 01 September 09:25 | The glory of Jesus of Nazareth was displayed in his earthly ministry when he changed water into wine. He displayed this glory and told us it was our inheritance in the kingdom of God here on earth. John 20 relates that if all of his miracles were written about that john didnt suppose the earth would be able to contain the books.... this was 3 years of miracle ministry.
This is what Jesus left us.This glory. His kingdom on earth. With Pentacost came even more. Shadows healed and tongues were spoken for first time.
Focus on this glory part of the Christ. Its this that will heal and do miracles. Dont strive. Just focus and accept like the shepherds... simple child like way.
Its our inheritance on earth

| Athanasius on the Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ | [ faithandlife ] | Saturday 29 March 05:10 |
from Athansius, On the Incarnation of the Word of God, chapter 6
FITTING indeed, then, and wholly consonant was the death on the cross for us;
and we can see how reasonable it was, and why it is that the salvation of the
world could be accomplished in no other way. Even on the cross He did not hide
Himself from sight;
rather, He made all creation witness to the presence of its Maker. Then, having
once let it be seen that it was truly dead, He did not allow that temple of His
body to linger long, but forthwith on the third day raised it up, impassible and
incorruptible, the pledge and token of His victory.
A very strong proof of this destruction of death and its conquest by the cross
is supplied by a present fact, namely this. All the disciples of Christ despise
death; they take the offensive against it and, instead of fearing it, by the
sign of the cross and by faith
in Christ trample on it as on something dead. Before the divine sojourn of the
Saviour, even the holiest of men were afraid of death, and mourned the dead as
those who perish But now that the Saviour has raised His body, death is no
longer terrible, but all those
who believe in Christ tread it underfoot as nothing, and prefer to die rather
than to deny their faith in Christ, knowing full well that when they die they do
not perish, but live indeed, and become incorruptible through the resurrection.
But that devil who of old
wickedly exulted in death, now that the pains of death are loosed, he alone it
is who remains truly dead.
There is proof of this too ; for men who, before they believe in Christ, think
death horrible and are afraid of it, once they are converted despise it so
completely that they go eagerly to meet it, and themselves become witnesses of
the Saviour’s resurrection from it. Even children hasten thus to die, and not
men only, but women train themselves by
bodily discipline to meet it. So weak has death become that even women, who used
to be taken in by it, mock at it now as a dead thing robbed of all its strength.
Death has become like a tyrant who has been completely conquered’ by the
legitimate monarch; bound hand and foot the passers-by jeer at him, hitting him
and abusing him, no longer afraid of his cruelty and rage, because of the king
who has conquered him. So has death been conquered and branded for what it is by
the Saviour on the cross. It is bound hand and foot, all who are in Christ
trample it as they pass and as witnesses to Him deride it, scoffing and saying,
“ O Death, where is thy victory? 0 Grave, where is thy sting?” (1 Cor. 15. 55)

| Welcome to Islamic Reformation 101 - by Mustafa Akyol | [ brucep4muslims ] | Monday 03 March 20:37 | Many Christians ask about whether Islam can reform itself. Here is an article explaining how it is happening, and why "Back to the Koran" is a reforming idea in Islam. It also explains why being secular is not the same thing for Muslims as being modern.
