As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord ´
“Igniting soul’s through the proclamation of Jesus Christ”.
For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what he does not have.
This is an activity for all to enjoy and learn in, write as well as read. We call this "Weekend Scripture Share", as you will clearly see why. What we would like everyone to do is to post any verse or portion of the Word from your Bible. Along with the portion of Scripture you may place thought, comment, or question. The post does not need be long or short, can be one verse and simply said, "my favorite". Please do share with us and leave the subject line, or write in “Weekend Scripture Share”. For the weekly addition of “Tuesday Scripture” and “Weekend Scripture Share”, I have been composing through the Spirit as I study, verse by verse, or portion by portion, from the Book of 2 Corinthians. I am at the Eighth Chapter of the Word.
2 Cor. 8:12, “For it there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.”
The strict rule of giving comes from the Old Testament and represents a legalistic approach to extracting money from people. The Apostle Paul makes clear that the New Covenant speaks differently about giving.
"The gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have." God is looking for people that recognize Him in their lives and are willing to give to show appreciation for all He does. He is not dictating an amount, a thing He wants or attempting to place a backbreaking burden on those that love Him. When all those that receive from Him decide to "give what they can" the funds needed to accomplish His work are always available. The essential operational word in the verse is "willing". A person is "willing when he or she employs a mental faculty by which one deliberately chooses or decides upon a course of action. The Apostle Paul asks the Corinthians to complete a task, make a decision to follow through and do a thing needing to be done by giving something to support the spread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This applies to all that receive from Him through all ages.
Anyone who may be moved in the spirit to respond or blessed to participate please feel free to do so. The point of these two weekly activities have been directed and set up by God to fellowship in the Word and learn from one another. I am not a teacher, but a Brother in the Family of God and called to His fellowship. I make mistakes and certainly may not see something in the same way as you, therefore always open to corrective criticism so long as it is spoken in the Spirit and conforms with the Bible which I believe to be the Living Word of God.
Love in the Lord
Paul/Hayman
