"Don't Quit"
2 Cor 4:16
For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the
inward man is renewed day by day.
In this text Paul is speaking to the church at Corinth. He says, if we
take all things into consideration that Christ has done for us we should
"faint
not" when troubles or difficult times come our way. Medically when a person
faints he becomes weak and loses his power of awareness because there is a
decreased blood flow to his brain. This causes him to become physically weak
and to give up or quit what he is doing. We have little control over what
happens to us physically but we do have control over what happens to us
spiritually. So Paul says "we faint not", we must not allow ourselves to
become
spiritually weak and give up on the things of God.
All types of businesses, governmental departments, social
organization, churches and God desire to have people working in them that
are dependable
and consistent.
They want people who will stick with a job or an assignment until it is
completed. But the world today is full of people who aren't consistent and
will
quit their job or task at the drop of a hat. They are here today and gone to
morrow, they are sometimes up and they are sometimes down. The church of God
today has these kind of people too, they always have an excuse or are
looking for an excuse to quit, to give up or many of them say they would
like to
bow out gracefully. But I say unto you that have grabbed hold of the gospel
plow "don't quit" your given mission in the service of God because great is
your reward or condemnation if you quit.
When we come into the service of the Lord we have signed up to work
for God in support of the gospel of Christ, we have signed up for the long
haul.
Going along this narrow road we will come across many temptations and pit
falls, the Lord will help us to navigate over and threw them successfully
but
sometimes we will fall. Failure isn't an excuse to give up in your journey
because something down in you, will tell you to go ahead, go ahead. Paul
knew
what it meant not to quit, he knew how to press his way toward the prize of
the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. The old song writer would sing, "
walk
with me Lord while I'm on this tedious journey". Children of God that don't
quit know how to call upon the name of the Lord at all times and he is ready
to help when they needed help.
If you remember the words of Jesus, they will bring you strength
because he said that I will never leave you nor forsake you. We have the
keeping
power of the Holy Ghost deep within us, knowing that nothing can snatch us
out of the hand of the Lord, which gives us the power to say to the enemy of
our soul, I won't quit. I will stand steadfast and unmovable in God come
hell or high water.
To get out of a hard situation,
try a soft answer.
Proverbs 15:1
A soft answer turneth away wrath:
but grievous words stir up anger.
