"Look to the Hills"
Text: Psalm 121:1
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
These words were most likely penned by king David during some of his
very troubled times. David was a man that was full of troubles because of
the
way he lived his life. And when we live in a state of sinfulness our lives
are also going to be full of troubles. But the crux of the whole matter is
that
it doesn't matter whether you are saved or unsaved your life is still going
to be full of troubles. David was a warrior who constantly fought against
the
enemies of Israel while he was king and may have thought at times that there
was no way out of his troubles. We are no different than David because many
of us have ended up in situations from which we thought that there was no
escape.
David in his military campaigns was a man that knew God in spite of his
disobedience and we follow right behind him in his steps and are disobedient
with God even though we know him. I can see in my minds eye that while he
was out in the field one night and knowing that trouble was coming in the
morning,
he knew that he needed the help of his God. He look back to Jerusalem which
was a city sat on a hill and he said to himself, I will life up mine eyes
unto
the hills from which cometh my help because my help cometh from the Lord.
He wasn't just looking up to any of the hills around Jerusalem but he
was looking to Mt. Moriah and to Mt. Zion the resident place of God. My
friend
when you are in trouble or are expecting trouble, be like David and life up
your eyes because your redemption draweth nigh. God will not allow you my
friend
to be taken down or moved from your state of salvation by the enemy because
God never slumbers or sleeps. He has his hedge all around you and the devil
can't get in. God is omnipresent, he is every where at the same time. If the
devil attacks you from the left , God is there, if he comes from the right,
God is there. God is eternal, he has no ending and he has no beginning and
when you look up to the hills God is already there with you.
As David expressed his confidence and trust in God, you and I can do
the same thing. Because we know the one that David knew as Jehovah we know
as
Jesus Christ the Lord. We can look unto Jesus, the Rose of Sharon, the
Bright and Morning Star, the Alpha and Omega, the prince of Peace, the Lamb
of God
that took away the sins of the world. So my friend no matter what your
problem may or may not be look unto Jesus the author and finisher of your
faith.
Psa 121:1 [[A Song of degrees.]] I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills,
from whence cometh my help.
Psa 121:2 My help [cometh] from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
Psa 121:3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will
not slumber.
Psa 121:4 Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
Psa 121:5 The LORD [is] thy keeper: the LORD [is] thy shade upon thy right
hand.
Psa 121:6 The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
Psa 121:7 The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy
soul.
Psa 121:8 The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this
time forth, and even for evermore.
To get out of a hard situation,
try a soft answer.
Proverbs 15:1
A soft answer turneth away wrath:
but grievous words stir up anger.
