"God is Faithful"

Text: Psalm 31:17

Let me not be ashamed, O LORD; for I have called upon thee: let the wicked
be ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave.

The psalm writer is making a petition to the Lord in the presence of
his enemies. In our life time we will be constantly challenged by
unbelievers
concerning the realness of the God we love and serve. They challenge the
promises that we tell them that he has made to us and will bring to pass.
These
challenges will continually come against us and against the word of God.
When we come into times of tribulation and heart ache they will cry out
where
is your God. Therefore the psalm writer calls out to God for help that will
be seen by his enemies because if it doesn't come he will be made ashamed in
the eyes of his enemies. He will be a laughing stock before them in their
eyes.

Even though we know that God will be our help in times of trouble and
that he may not come when we call him as the old folks use to say, but he
will
be here right on time. In the eyes of our enemies we are marked as a men
that are putting their trust in a God that isn't real and can't help us when
we
call. The psalm writer is saying to the Lord please do something to let them
know that you are alive and well. Let your power come down from heaven
before
the eyes of the unbelievers as your power came down as fire for Elijah in
the midst of his enemies the prophets of Baal on Mt. Carmel, showing that
you
are a God that is faithful.

Let us be like Paul when he went among the Gentiles and cried out,
"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God
unto
salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the
Greek", (Rom 1:16). The Christ we know will not let us be ashamed before our
enemies.
His power will be evident through us that he is real and he will come to our
aid when we call upon him in faith. My brothers and sisters call upon the
Lord and say, "Let all mine enemies be ashamed and sore vexed: let them
return and be ashamed suddenly",
(Psa 6:10).

"God is faithful" in all of our situations of life whether it is a
time of sickness or a time of death. "God is faithful" to us when our
children
or marriage partner goes astray he will solve the problem or give us the
grace to go on in the midst of the problem and you will not be ashamed. "God
is
faithful" when we tell others that he has given us a special ministry; he
will give us the strength and the ability we need to carry it through for
his
glory and we will not be ashamed. "God is faithful" to his church and he
will not let it be ashamed.

Psa 31:1
[[To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.]] In thee, O LORD, do I put my
trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness.

hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.

And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the
LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall
never be
ashamed.

Psa 6:10
Let all mine enemies be ashamed and sore vexed: let them return [and] be
ashamed suddenly.

Psa 35:4
Let them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul: let them be
turned back and brought to confusion that devise my hurt.

Psa 40:14
Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to
destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil.

Psa 70:2
Let them be ashamed and confounded that seek after my soul: let them be
turned backward, and put to confusion, that desire my hurt.

Psa 71:24
My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long: for they
are confounded, for they are brought unto shame, that seek my hurt.

Psa 83:16
Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O LORD.

confusion together [that are] makers of idols.

Isa 65:13
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, my servants shall eat, but ye
shall be hungry: behold, my servants shall drink, but ye shall be thirsty:
behold,
my servants shall rejoice, but ye shall be ashamed:

Jer 20:11
But the LORD [is] with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my persecutors
shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed;
for
they shall not prosper: [their] everlasting confusion shall never be
forgotten.

Dan 12:2
And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to
everlasting life, and some to shame [and] everlasting contempt.

The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence.

1Sa 2:9
He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in
darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.

And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a
wedding garment? And he was speechless.

A fruitful harvest requires faithful service.
 Galatians 6:9 states,
And let us not be weary in well doing:
for in due season we shall reap,
if we faint not.
