"God's Hand Feeds Us"
Text: Ezekiel 3:1-2
Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, eat that thou findest; eat this roll,
and go speak unto the house of Israel. So I opened my mouth, and he caused
me
to eat that roll.
The prophet Ezekiel is describing the relationship God has with him
the Son of Man concerning what he did with the blessed word of God. The Son
of
man commanded him to eat what he found and what he found wasn't just
anything but what he found was the word of God. The Lord commanded him to
eat this
roll which is symbolic of the word of God. Ezekiel had no strength to eat it
himself or feed himself but he said "I opened my mouth and he caused me to
eat that roll". In his gladness and joy he said, the book was like the
sweetness of honey in my mouth
Most times we tend to believe that when we are reading or studying God'
s word, we are doing it in our own strength. We are God's children and he
wants
us to be well nourished by the word, just as when a mother is feeding that
new born babe she spoon feeds it by hand and insures that it eats all of it
food. She takes the spoon and pulls it gently over the baby's lips to get
the excess to insure that nothing is lost and she will feed that to the
baby.
As the little hungry baby will instinctively open his mouth to receive the
food, we also must do and say like the prophet, "I opened my mouth, and he
caused
me to eat the roll".
When one is hand fed by God you won't go hungry because he will give
to you the words you need to nourish your famished soul. The voice from
heaven
commanded John to go and take the little book which is opened in the hand of
the angel. John then spoke out saying, "And I went unto the angel, and said
unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it
up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet
as honey, --- And I took the little book out of the angel's hand, and ate it
up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it,
my belly was bitter", (Rev 10:9-10).
As a hand fed child of God, he will feed us with the word of his mouth
that is sweet like honey. And a love for the word will cause us to greedily
eat up every drop with eagerness and joy. "For the word will be health to
thy navel and marrow to thy bones", (Prov 3:8). The word will increase your
faith
because the Apostle Paul said, "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing
by the word of God", (Rom 10:17). But the angel that spoke to John also
said,
"Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter", (Rev 10:9).
Along with the sweetness and the joy of the word also comes sorrow and pain
to
those who proclaim the word. The preaching of the gospel of Christ will
bring to you opposition and persecution, the bitter will come with the
sweet. But
as we live on my friend, never turn away from the word of the Lord whether
your in a time of sweetness or in a time of bitterness.
Eze 3:10
Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, all my words that I shall speak unto
thee receive in thine heart, and hear with thine ears.
Eze 2:8
But thou, son of man, hear what I say unto thee; Be not thou rebellious like
that rebellious house: open thy mouth, and eat that I give thee.
1Ti 4:15
Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting
may appear to all.
Rev 10:9
And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And
he said unto me, Take [it], and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly
bitter,
but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey.
Eze 3:11
And go, get thee to them of the captivity, unto the children of thy people,
and speak unto them, and tell them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; whether they
will
hear, or whether they will forbear.
Eze 2:3
And he said unto me, Son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a
rebellious nation that hath rebelled against me: they and their fathers have
transgressed against me, [even] unto this very day.
Jer 24:1
The LORD shewed me, and, behold, two baskets of figs [were] set before the
temple of the LORD, after that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon had carried
away
captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, and the princes of
Judah, with the carpenters and smiths, from Jerusalem, and had brought them
to
Babylon.
Jer 25:17
Then took I the cup at the LORD'S hand, and made all the nations to drink,
unto whom the LORD had sent me:
Act 26:19
Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision:
A fruitful harvest requires faithful service.
Galatians 6:9 states,
And let us not be weary in well doing:
for in due season we shall reap,
if we faint not.
