BZeal -- Zeal for God's house http://randalmatheny.com/doku.php?id=brazil [You received this email as a subscriber of the Brazil list at associate.com. See unsub information at end.] THE BLUR OF EVENTS by J. Randal Matheny It happens to fast to keep up and tell you about it! So here's my quick attempt to swipe some broad strokes and paint a picture. == Special Weekend Brings in Visitors == The special weekend for evangelism in SJCampos brought in 12 non-Christian visitors on Satuday and Sunday, Oct. 21-22. Some 92 printed invitations were handed out, which means 13% of those invited showed up. Great number there! The theme focused on Christ's second coming. Special speakers included Francisco Bezerra (Sao Paulo), Sergio Nascimento (Osasco), and Genildo Ferreira (Sorocaba), besides two locals, Otavio Carvalho and me. == Studies and Baptisms == * We continue studying with Odilio and Claudete in Taubate. She was baptized, as reported, Aug. 29. We hope Odilio will also decide soon. * Joaquim is another gentleman, in SJCampos, who has yet to make a decision. He's been asking question about who might do his baptism, so that keeps our hopes up. == Travels and Teaching == I taught my "This We Believe" Seminar in Recife Oct. 13-15 at the Prazeres congregation. On Sunday and Monday I met with brethren from another congregation to help them deal with local challenges to doctrinal issues. While there, I received an invitation to speak at the Northeastern Christian Lectureship Jan. 2007, which will be held in Recife next year, as well as teach in some other cities of the northeast. == US Trip == Vicki and Leila arrive in the US Nov. 28 and I'll slide in a week later Dec. 6. We'll come back to Brazil together Jan. 5. If you'd like for us to visit your congregation, let us know. There's more to tell, but that's enough for one email!
