STUDENTS CONSIDER TRUE BAPTISM

SAO PAULO, BRAZIL (BZNS)- Students and other interested
persons gathered July 27 at the Ninth of July church's
building to hear a special study on "The True Biblical
Baptism."

The study was sponsored by the School of the Bible, an
evangelistic outreach of the congregation.

At the end of each month the school holds the study for
special topics that are more polemical or difficult.

The unusually cold weather and the normal vacation
month affected attendance, which averages 60-70 people.
Over 20 people were present for this study.

I had been invited months ahead of time, with the topic
assigned to me by the organizers.

Visitors were present from the cities of Salvador, in
Bahia state, and from Joinville, in the state of Santa
Catarina, so that both the southern and northeastern
parts of the country were represented.

Afterwards, listeners had opportunity to submit written
questions. Several of the questions dealt with the
purpose of baptism and baptisms of other religious
groups.

The manuscript, which offers extensive documentation,
should be published in booklet form in a few weeks.

For more information, as well as how two Vatican
documents provided a tie-in to the topic, see this
