Making the best choice
Jiju Mylapra

Being Christians, we often face with difficulty in making choices.  Quite often, we make one; but that would turn out to be not the best one.  Joseph, for instance, was faced with a difficult choice after having discovered that Mary, his betrothed woman, was pregnant with a child.  Perhaps Joseph thought he had only two options before him:  one, to divorce Mary quietly and the other, to expose and cause her to be stoned to death according to the Law (Deut 22:23-24).  But remember, God gave Joseph a third option: to marry her (Mat 1:20-23).  Although, Joseph would have seemed to be doing the right thing by breaking the betrothal, God’s guidance at the right time had helped him to exercise the best option.  When we are faced with making choices, especially hat could affect the lives of others, we must always seek God’s guidance.

Prayer:  "Heavenly Father, Help us making choices to encourage others." Amen.

The Genealogy of Adam (Part-2)
Charles E. Wigg

Adam lived 130 years and begot Seth and live thereafter 800 years. All his days were nine hundred and thirty years, and he died. It should be pointed out here that he was living during the first 243 years of Methuselah’s life. Thus he would have exercised an influence over many generations of his followers, during that first millennium.

Seth lived a hundred and five years and begot Enos, and lived thereafter eight hundred and seven years and thus his life stretched for nine hundred and twelve years and after such a long life he also died. Each of those whose life span is recorded here has the same, epitaph attached “And he died”. Thus God’s sentence was fulfilled in each of them.

Enos lived ninety years and begot Cainan and he lived thereafter eight hundred and fifteen years and he died at the age of nine hundred and five years   Cainan lived seventy years and begot Mahalaleel, and he lived thereafter eight hundred and forty years, and he also died at the age of, nine hundred and ten years .It is important to notice that the meaning of the name (Mahalaleel), is” in praise of God” .the meaning of the names of most of the Antediluvian patriarchs is important, because it gives a clue to their character and would indicate that it was given after they had lived their lives, or else it was given by their parents by the Spirit of prophecy, at their birth.. Nor should we think that each one mentioned was the eldest son of the family.

Mahalaleel lived sixty five years and he begot Jared, (which means a descent), this is interesting to note because it was in his days that the apostasy began. It is believed by the ancient Jewish Historians, and it is also written in the Arabic writings, that after Adam was turned out of the Garden of Eden, he migrated westward and settled on a mountain. There was a strict separation between the descendants of Seth and the descendants of Cain, and the descendants of Seth were exhorted never to take lower ground and to go down to the daughters of Cain, as they were very beautiful, and could sing nicely too. However in time they were lured by their singing and their beauty also, and went down to them, thus began the apostasy that ended up in the flood of Noah’s time, when the whole of the human family with the exception of eight persons were destroyed.
