I put links to the 2002 Linux Web Browser Review on the front page at http://associate.com a couple days ago. And Smart Bookmarks rule. No-one else has them yet but galeon. > I hear RedHat pushed the envelope with 7.3, getting more current apps in > it. Actually, the reason I like redhat is that I know it, and it's really easy to do a minimalist install. I immediately upgrade all the software I like anyway. I'm not happy with a stock install from ANY distro, I always beat them around until I like it. :) > I've avoided Mandrake 8.2 because they released without KDE 3.0. It's very very very fast, and you can tab windows in a group, kinda like GAIM tabs conversations in an IM window. > I tried a lot of Window managers in the early days, following what other > thought was cool, etc - but in the end, I need something that's close to > my Mac origins and doesn't require customization. KDE is it. I was an enlightenment guy for YEARS. But it started crashing on me with later XFree's and 0.16.* isn't being maintained anymore, what with 0.17 coming along well. So I switched to Flux. I don't run either gnome or KDE sessions, I like speed too much, and they're both way slower than not running either. I have both installed so I can run apps that need them though (like galeon). > RedHat 4.2 was my first too. RedHat has had a decent GUI installer since 6.0, and the 7.* series has a *nice* GUI installer. > Have fun with the install! I forgot that I can't get into my BIOS on my laptop (to make it boot from cd), and I didn't have a floppy handy. :( So I'll try again tonight.
