Genesis 16:13 There are many of you who are going through difficulties, struggles, trying times, a valley of decisions, hurt, suffering, you feel like you have come to the end of your rope, you are in a hopeless situation, the walls are closing in on you, you can't go to the left or to the right or forward, relationships have been broken, dreams have been shattered, hopes have been crushed, the darkness is so thick, you are feeling overwhelmed, the pain is intense, the night lingers on refusing to give way to the day. Hagar felt this way. She was the "unfortunate victim" of Abraham and Sarah's plan to "help God out". She had no control over what she went through. She was forced to have a baby, then because of Sarah's jealously she was mistreated, later she was sent away out of her home, wandered through the desert with no water, prayed to die, had to start all over again and make a life for her and her son. Life can treat and mistreat us many ways. It can be full of pain, suffering, temptation, rejection- it's not always a bed of roses. It wasn't for this servant girl Hagar. But through it all, she learned that no matter what she may go through... "Thou God seest me." God sees what you are going through this morning. Nothing is hid before Him. Darkness cannot hide it and confusion does not cloud His view. He sees the evil and the good. Take comfort this morning that the Lord sees you. He knows exactly what you are going through. He knows exactly where you are. If His eye is upon the sparrow, then you can have assurance that His eye is upon you because you are of much more value to Him than a sparrow. God sees you this morning. That means that everything that's attached to you- pain, fear, suffering, grief, etc.- He sees that too. More wonderful than just the fact that He sees is that as He sees, He also moves. He moves on your behalf to provide, to comfort, to strengthen, to fight, whatever needs to be done, He moves to do it. He moved on Hagar's behalf and gave her the strength she needed, a word in due season, direction, and hope. Because He sees you too, He will do the same for you that He did for Hagar.
