Coffee Break "Truth And Feelings" "Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth." John 17:17 I heard a minister yesterday say- truth is not based in feelings. What this means is that just because you "feel" a certain way, doesn't mean that it's the truth. Feelings can deceive you. Have you ever felt one way and found out that it wasn't really the way? You can't use your feelings as the indicator that something is true... it may or may not be. There is one sure way of knowing the truth. "Thy word is truth". It's not about what we feel, or how we feel, it's about what the word of God says. Your feelings will tell you that you are defeated, you'll never make it, you can't do something, it's impossible, you'll never be delivered, you'll never succeed. When you are feeling like this and your feelings are speaking to you, it's not the truth. "Thy word is truth". What does the word of God say? It says that you are more than a conqueror through Christ, with God nothing is impossible, you can do all things through Christ, He causes you to always triumph, greater is He that is in you. If you are going to listen to something- you need to listen to the truth. The truth will be found in the word of God, not in your feelings. God gave us feelings, but not to rule or govern our lives by. Your feelings can lead you astray. He gave us His word to govern our lives, to rule our lives, to follow and get guidance and direction from. So what are you following this morning? What are you basing your hope on? What rules your life? Your feelings or God's word? Have a great day.
