FWP,
Your statement that evangelicals and fundamentalists represent
only about 10% of all Christians fails to take into account a phenomenon
of the past 30 years.
According to the World Christian Encyclopedia, the result of
Dr. Barrett's research, charismatics and pentecostals (who tend
to be VERY evangelical and fundamentalistic) have swelled in
numbers approximating 500,000,000! Add to that other evangelicals
and fundamentalists, and the percentage (depending on whose totals
you use) ranges somewhere between 25-40% of all professing
Christians!
The Mormons, however, despite their many admirable qualities,
can hardly be termed "Christian" in a biblical sense, since 1) they deny
the eternal deity of Jesus Christ, claiming that Jesus was once actually
Adam and progressed through saviourhood to godhood, and 2) they
qualify for St. Paul's anathema against any religious revelation from
an angel presenting a gospel different from the one he had already
taught and preached to them (Galatians 1:8).
Yours because we're HIS,
Tom
