Today's Devotion Monday, July 23, 2001 "Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God." (Psalm 20:7) Today's Thought Where do you run when your life's circumstances seem to overwhelm You? To whom do you turn when you face disappointment and discouragement? If you're like most people, the first thing you think about is calling a friend . . . one whom will listen and offer advice. Have you ever wondered why we turn to man rather than to God in times of need? Simply because we're like those the Psalmist wrote about, trusting in horses and chariots rather than in the name of God! We look for a quick fix . . . we need a fast answer . . . we want to see in the natural what is purposed to happen in the spiritual realm! We look for our help to come by way of man, looking for ways to escape or artificial means of protection! We need to begin to look to God for our help, to be content in our circumstances until we see His hand move on our behalf! We need to run to Him . . . not our friends or family members . . . when we're in trouble or being pursued by the enemy! We live in a fast-paced world where answers are often at our fingertips . . . but we are to look to God who has fought our battles for us and is ready to declare us victors! Remember that God is omnipotent . . . He was powerful yesterday . . . He is powerful today . . . and His power is already manifest in our tomorrows! Today's Prayer Father, forgive me for trusting in man rather than trusting You in all that you've done, yesterday, today, and tomorrow! Help me remember to run to You in times of need . . . to look to You for answers rather than looking for answers everywhere else. Father, thank you for providing for my every need through your Name . . . the Name which is above every Name . . . and thank you for being my Victorious Lord! Amen! Have a blessed day!
