Today's Devotion Wednesday, June 11, 2003 "Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him which is perfect in knowledge?" (Job 37:16) Today's Thoughts Knowledge is increasing day by day . . . scientists are discovering new strains of disease, new dimensions of space, breakthroughs in medicine, etc. Millions and millions of dollars are being spent each year in research and development to further enhance the technology we live with on a day-to-day basis. While all of this is impressive to some, we ought always to be impressed with the fact that we cannot even begin to know the "balance of the clouds" or the "wondrous works of him which is perfect in knowledge." There are things which mankind will never know . . . he will never "have arrived"! The next time you think that you accomplish something special, remember this verse . . . we are NOTHING without Him . . . we cannot even begin to compare to His knowledge, His wisdom, His power! We serve a mighty, awesome God . . . ruler of the universe. In Him we live and move and have our being . . . without Him we are nothing. Everything we are, everything we hope to be, is because of Him . . . there is none else besides Him! Today's Prayer Father, forgive me for not always acknowledging your greatness! I am guilty with all others of losing sight of the fact that compared to you, we are totally nothing. I thank you, Lord, that you have reminded me that no matter how wonderful are my accomplishments, there is no one or nothing that can compare to You! Lord, help me take on an attitude of humility and thankfulness for each thing you've given us, for each thing we learn, for each talent we possess, for each mystery of life that is uncovered. For any knowledge at all is a precious gift from You, oh omniscient Lord! Amen! Have a blessed day! Jan Ross rross@...
