Today's Devotion
Christmas Day, December 25, 2002

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government
shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful,
Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."
(Isaiah 9:6)

Today's Thought

Although I do not know the source of this thought-provoking piece, I thought
it appropriate for us today! As we consider the purpose for our celebration
today and every day, let us concentrate on the miracle of the One whom we
adore, Christ the Lord!

O COME LET US ADORE HIM!

He was born in the humblest of settings,
Yet heaven above was filled with the songs of angels.
His birthplace was a cattle shed,
Yet a star brought great men from 2,000 miles away to worship Him.
His birth was contrary to the laws of life.
His death was contrary to the laws of death.
Yet, no miracle is greater than His birth, His life, His death, and His
teaching.
He had no cornfields or fisheries,
Yet He spread a table for 5,000 and had bread and fish to spare.
He never stood on expensive carpeting,
Yet He walked on the waters and they supported Him.
His crucifixion was the crime of crimes,
Yet from God's perspective no less a price could have made possible our
redemption.
When He died, few men mourned,
Yet God hung a black crepe over the sun.
Those who crucified Him didn't tremble at what they had done;
Yet the earth shook under them.
Sin never touched Him.
Corruption could not get hold of His body.
The soil that was reddened with His blood, could not claim His dust.
For three years He preached the Gospel.
He wrote no book and built no organization.
Yet 2,000 years later He's the central figure of human history,
The perpetual theme of all preaching,
The pivot around which the ages revolve,
And the only Redeemer of the human race.
O come let us adore Him - Christ the Lord!

Remember always that on a "Holy Night" that was anything but a "Silent
Night" God made the biggest statement He ever could make . . . "I've
provided for you 'A Way in the Manger!'" Jesus is the Way . . . He's our
Way Maker . . . without Him there would be no reason for this season or any
other season! O come let us adore Him -- Christ the Lord!

Today's Prayer

"That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be
strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; that Christ may
dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length,
and depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passeth
knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God." Amen and
Amen! (Ephesians 3:16-19)

Have a blessed day filled with the love that comes through personally
knowing the Reason for the season!
