You make some good points. Sorry that its taken me a few days to get
back to this.

Any program that stores a date, like a database or spreadsheet. For
home computer users probably the most important would be any that 
handle you bank accounts. I hope that helps.

To stop your computer's boot routine, look for some sort of message
that has you press the F2 button, or the Escape key, or Delete key. 
This will be at the very beginning when you flip the switch to turn
your system on. Your system will count up the RAM, and then you'll 
have about 3 to 10 seconds to press the key that will allow you to 
enter the BIOS. One very important point here, you don't want to 
change anything. When you exit out of the BIOS look for an option
that says something like "Exit without saving changes." Just in 
case you flipped a bit you didn't mean to flip. I hope it works for 
everyone.
