Appendix A: Computer Re-use Organisations

These groups gather donated hardware and software, might test, refurbish, or upgrade the hardware, and then make the donated materials available to other ministries. Some may give items away entirely, others ask the recipient to pay for shipping or some nominal charge. Some are explicitly Christian, others are secular. Some have particular geographic or sectoral focus, others will give to any registered charity. Some only handle computers (or maybe even only certain kinds of computers), others handle many kinds of goods. The one thing that all these groups have in common is that they take goods which would otherwise go to waste, and put them in the hands of charities which can put them to use in a good cause.

Note: You will notice that the E-mail addresses on this page do not work as they are. They have been obfuscated in an attempt to interfere with the operation of "harvesting" robots which prowl the web, looking for perfectly harmless E-mail addresses to pummel with spam until the owners are forced to change to a different E-mail server. All you need to do to reach one of the organisations on this page is to delete the "spam" before the "@" symbol and the "maps" (that's "spam" backwards) after the "@" symbol before you send your message.
