Bible Desktop

[Bible Desktop] Developer: CrossWire Bible Society
Web Site: www.crosswire.org/bibledesktop
Comments: The Sword Project is an open source project which seeks to make Bible tools and translations freely available. There are ports to Windows, Linux, Mac OS/X, and several different PDA environments, as well as a Java version and web-based tools. This means that there is a Sword tool which will work on most of the operating systems in common use today. However, the Sword Project is actively recruiting volunteers to help with coding applications and text files. Bible Desktop is a graphical user interface for Jsword, which is an implementation of the Sword Project in Java, and should therefore run on any computer with Java 1.4 or better. In any case, it's known to run in Linux, Macintosh, Windows.
