I have been in the martial arts for thirteen years, have black and brown belts in a couple of Japanese styles, have Army infantry experience and a couple of long-ago collegiate boxing bouts under my belt, and the idea of being surrounded, alone, by typical street thugs bothers me quite a bit. Granted I am quite un-Hulklike, but I ask you in all seriousness to reconsider your bravado, because if there are, say, three of them...at least one has a pistol and at least two are faulty in both their judgement, and their responsiveness to your best techniques, because they are hopped up on a dangerous chemical. Your training will make you more likely to escape safely, if you use it wisely. Now, to relate this to DR solo battle: let's take the gun out of the picture completely, of course, and you are now surrounded by three glowering, fang-filled orc faces. You have your very best weapon on you, whatever it is...let's say you're good enough (this being a game of heroism, after all!) to take all three. Now say your best friend and training partner from the dojo is with you, with his favorite weapon. Between you, with some intellegent tactics and guyarding each others' backs, how much easier is it? (Realistically, now.) That cooperation, trust and teamwork, is "normal" combat. Without anyone watching your back, it's harder - that's life. And that's also the POINT of the rule - that Light Raiders are supposed to work together. Finally, if you would be interested in joining a Christian martial artist's discussion list, let me know; I'm on one that's pretty interesting. God bless!
