<< Hello!
I was wonderin' if you fellows (or Ladies) paint and/or use miniatures
for your DragonRaid (or otherwide) games? And if so which miniatures
company do you prefer? I was always partial to Ral Partha miniatures
myself. Mostly because of the elegant detail. I've been facinated with
miniatures ever since I learned of their existence, waaaay back in the 80's
when this hobby was new and my neighbor showed me his (unpainted) lizard
 men, and shambling mound figurines.
Have any of you folk's seen the Mordheim game put out by Games
Workshop? It's designed to use small scirmisher units instead of the huge
army's Warhammer is so renouned for. I dont really like the Warhammer
setting for Ive always found it a bit too grim and occultic for my
taste's.(nor do I much like many of their miniatures) Its one of those
games that if you dont use sorcery, demons, and the like you get
annihilated by the forces that do(ie every other player).
But still, I think that scirmisher combat is a nifty concept for
miniature games. I dont know if such a system would be appropriate for
DragonRaid, but it might be an interesting thing to mull over. Especially
for those of you out there who were so interested in mass combat awhile
ago, scirmisher units might be better suited to the DragonRaid setting.

Hello Raiders,
I have been collecting minitures for my games since like 78. My group and I
have gotten to the point that we like using them so much we find it hard
using games that don't have a lot of miniture support. Supers, Swashbucklers
and stuff like that. Like Aaron I really like Ral Parther figures, although
the latest figures I have seen from their line have lost alot of their
detail. Put one of your RP figures from even last year next to the same
figure from this year and you'll see what I mean. I work at a local game
store and run the instore demos. So I see alot of figures. The best ones for
the money that are out right now IMHO are the ones from Reaper Minitures,
Dark Heavan line. The poses are so life-like and action orrianted. And the
detail is fantastic. You have to see their Templar. Now that is a Light
Raider. Their priced right in there with RP.

As for Warhammer. I have an army of Bretonnian Knights mounted on horseback
with two units of Archers, and not a spell caster in the bunch. Yes my army
commander has a "Magic" sword and "Magic" armor. But its funny how just
wording it as "Holy" sword and Armor on the unit record sheet can do wonders
for your peace of mind. :-)

If your ever in the Somersworth NH area, stop in the Paperback Bazaar and say
hi.

God Bless,
