Read the Bible in a year by reading Mark 6:1--29 today

What Does Your Preacher Say?

When Jesus sent the apostles out to preach, they were no ear-ticklers. Mark comments,

So they went out and preached that people should repent.
(Mk. 6:12 NKJV)

They preached repentance. That means that they had to talk about sin and its consequences, along with its cure. The apostles were not simply bashing people, but they built them up by announcing God's word. Yet, that included tearing down obstructions to the building process. Sin is one of those obstructions.

Is your preacher concerned enough for you that he shows you what you need to remove and what you need to add to your life to make it better?

Question from today's reading: Why were the people of Jesus' own country offended at Him?
