2) Prayer Requests

As some of you may be aware a major tornado hit the downtown Ft Worth
area tonight with the center going right over my church, Calvary
Cathedral International. The church was damaged greatly and we do not
know yet just what the extent of damage is. It is a miracle of God that
no one was seriously injured. We have a prayer tower where people pray
24 hours a day 7 days a week. It is in a steeple area above the rest of
the building. A dear friend of mine and another lady were up in the
tower when the tornado hit. One lady was taking phone calls and my
friend was at the other side of the room. The phones started ringing
alot so my friend went into the phone room to help answer them. They got
the message that the tornado was hitting and hit the floor. All the
walls crashed around them. If my friend had still been on the other side
of the room she would have been sucked out! Praise God for His grace and
protection! They have canceled school for the rest of the week and we
don't know where services will be held in the time being. There is no
doubt in my mind that this was an outright attack of satan to once again
try to stop what God has been doing and will continue to do through
Pastor Bob and Joy Nichols and this church.

Please keep our pastor and his family and our church lifted up in prayer.
I know victory is ahead, but right now we are "going though"
(funny...God gave pastor a message Sunday morning about the wilderness
and going through)

Many blessings,
Alison

   I don't think this is too serious, but I would still like a prayer.

3) Devotions

God's Kid: Heavenly Father, I want to speak with you but am afraid because I
heard some people describing you to be an authoritarian, punishing God. Are
you?

God: "Come now, and let us reason together." (Isaiah 1:18)

Kid: Wow! You sound to be very democratic. Father, I face some troubles and
worries in this world and sometimes I feel overwhelmed and beaten.

God: "These things I have spoke unto you that in me ye might have peace. In
the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome
the
world." (John 16:33)

Kid: Uhuh .. That is why I can confidently say, "In all these things [I am]
more
than conqueror[s] through Him that loved [me]." (Romans 8:37)

God: Definitely.

Kid: But what about when I feel weak in front of worries?

God: Then, "My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect
in weakness." (2 Corinthians 12:9) Why do you worry or fear people or
future? Haven't I promised you, "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not
dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee;
yea, I
will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Behold, all they
that
were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded." (Isaiah 41:10
11)

Kid: Lord, but sometimes I face difficulties and hard decisions to make.

God: Do not worry, sweetheart. "I will go before thee, and make the crooked
places straight. (Isaiah 45:2)

Kid: Lovely, God, how wonderful you are to my soul. By the way, I love this
wonderful scene of the snow. For me it is enough to tell me about You, my
amazing God and Creator. But how can you convince people who do not
believe in You and your creation to this world?

God: Dear child, didn't I say,"It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the
earth.." (Isaiah 40:22) many decades before man can figure out that the
earth has a circular shape?! Simply, because it is one of my creations.

Kid: Lovely, Heavenly Father, Thank you so much for your loving supporting
heart. Please Father, wash my heart whiter than snow in your beloved Son
Jesus Christ's blood. Help me be your child who glorifies your name in
whatever I do or say and wherever I go.

God: You are most welcome my sweet child. Have a blessed peaceful cheerful
day in Me.

Memory Lane

11/1/99

    One morning, when I was 22 years old, I jumped out of bed and ran to the
window to gaze out over the "Lane," as I called it. I loved everything
about my walks down this special path, for my journeys were full of beauty,
solitude, and communion with my Maker. This particular morning, as the sun
peeked her head over the horizon, I was overcome with emotion and
memories.......

     I had a favorite Calico cat I named Missy, who was my constant
companion. More than anything, we shared a love for taking strolls down the
Lane. I would gently pick her up, and she would make her way up on my
shoulders to wrap herself around the back of my neck. Oh, how I loved those
beautiful summer days, feeling the lush soft grass under my bare feet, and
my
patchwork quilt companion around my neck. I would often pause and gaze up
ahead as we started our journey. My eyes would follow the Lane as it
stretched downward toward the bottom of the field. From there it climbed
steadily until it gradually disappeared on the horizon.
To one side of the Lane stood a field of corn, and there were many times
that
the wind would blow and rustle the leaves of the stalks as we walked by, as
if to give massive applause to our coming. Adjacent to the corn field was a
pasture full of horses, who quietly nickered their "hello" to us as we went
by. Halfway down the path stood my favorite tree; an old massive oak which
I
named the "fireplace tree," for the bottom of the trunk was hollowed out in
the shape of a hearth. When I was very young, I would leave letters inside
of the tree, thinking they would stay there forever, and that someday, when
I
was older, I would come back to read them.
    From there, the Lane climbed steadily upward to where an old bladeless
windmill, with a rusted out, but functional, pump underneath it. "The
Tower," as I called it, seemed to be a monument that marked this place as
special.
   There was something so holy about where the Lane led, and the atmosphere
surrounding it. As we stood on the top of this knoll, we could see for
miles
around to all the neighboring fields and woods, and I would pause to hear
God's whisper in the gentle fluttering of the trees. I often felt as if we
were on the top of the world overlooking all creation, and it was here that
I
would sit myself down and carry on serious discussions with my Creator.
Many
times the wind would blow gently across my face and I always believed it to
be the kind hand of God caressing my cheek.
     In the fall, I recall the milkweed that grew near the tower, that felt
as soft as an Angora sweater. I would make a wish, blow the fluffy seeds
into the wind, and watch them gently float away.
     In the winter it became our sledding hill. We even had nighttime
toboggan rides as we were pulled behind our neighbor's tractor, often times
harmonizing our voices in song, as the full moon would light our way. I can
still see the faces of my neighbors, parents, and siblings, as the moonbeams
created glowing silhouettes against the pure white snow.
     In the spring, I remember the freshly plowed fields with their deep
rich
smell, and the dandelions, as they burst open and dotted the landscape with
yellow........

     I slowly came back to the present, and took one last look at the Lane.
The sky line still left a pink tint where the sun had just risen. The mist
gathered from the floor of the pathway, swirled upwards, and disappeared.
In
my minds eye, I could see her -- the little blond-haired girl with the
patchwork quilt cat draped around her neck. She was smiling at me as she
stopped and waved. And then, just as the vapor slowly gathered and
disappeared, so did my image of her. I mouthed the words, "Good-bye,"
choked
back my emotions, and stooped to gather the delicate, white lace bridal gown
in my arms. It was only then that I noticed my mother had been watching me.
I looked at her through my tear-filled eyes, and she tenderly returned my
gaze. Finally she turned away to hide her tears, and said in a low voice,
"See you at the church."

                                   Important Language Announcement
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The European Commission have just announced an agreement whereby English
will
be the official language of the EU rather than German, which was the other
possibility.  As part of the negotiations, Her Majesty's government conceded
that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5
year
phase in plan that would be known as "EuroEnglish":
In the first year, "s" will replace the soft "c"-- Sertainly this will make
the sivil servants jump with joy.  The hard "c" will be dropped in favor of
the "k".  This should klear up konfusion and keyboards kan have 1 less
letter.
There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year, when the
troublesome "ph" wil be replaced with the "f".  This will make words like
"fotograf" 20% shorter.
In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expected to
reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible.  Governments
will enkorage the removal of double letters, which have always been a
deterent to akurate speling.  Also, al wil agre that the horible mes of the
silent "e"'s in the language is disgraceful, and they should go away.
By the 4th yar peopl wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing "th" with
"z"
and "w" with "v".  During ze fifz yar, ze unesesary "o"  kan be dropd from
vords kontaining "ou" and similar changes vud of kors be aplid to ozer
kombinations of leters.  After zis fifz yer, ve vil hav a reli sensibl riten
styl.  Zer vil be no mor trubls or difikultis and evrivun vil find it ezi tu
understand ech ozer.
ZE DREM VIL FINALI KUM TRU!!
                                          Famous Sayings by Kids
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A teacher gave her fourth-grade students the beginning of a list of famous
sayings and asked them to provide original endings for each one. Here are
some examples of what they submitted:

The grass is always greener when you leave the sprinkler on.

A rolling stone plays the guitar.

The grass is always greener when you remember to water it.

A bird in the hand is a real mess.

No news is no newspaper.

It's better to light one candle than to waste electricity.

It's always darkest just before I open my eyes.

You have nothing to fear but homework.

If you can't stand the heat, don't start the fireplace.

If you can't stand the heat, go swimming.

Never put off 'til tomorrow what you should have done yesterday.

A penny saved is nothing in the real world.

The squeaking wheel gets annoying.

We have nothing to fear but our principal.

To err is human. To eat a muskrat is not.

I think, therefore I get a headache.

Better to light a candle than to light an explosive.

It's always darkest before 9:30 p.m.

Early to bed and early to rise is first in the bathroom.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a blister.

There is nothing new under the bed.

The grass is always greener when you put manure on it.

Don't count your chickens -- it takes too long.

Laugh and the world laughs with you. Cry, and someone yells, "Shut
up!"

My Child

Sometimes I ask the question,
"My Lord, is this your will?"
It's then I hear you answer me,
"My Precious Child... be still."

Sometimes I feel frustrated,
cause I think I know what's best.
It's then I hear you say to me,
"My Busy Child... just rest"

Sometimes I feel so lonely
and I think I'd like a mate.
Your still small voice gets oh so clear
and says, "My Child... please wait"

"I know the plans I have for you,
the wonderous things you'll see;
If you can just be patient, Child,
and put your trust in me.

I've plans to draw you closer.
I've plans to help you grow.
There's much I do you cannot see
and much you do not know.

But know this, Child ..... I LOVE YOU.
You are Precious unto Me.
Before I formed you in the womb,
I planned your destiny.

I've something very special
I hope for you to learn.
The gifts I wish to give to you
are gifts you cannot earn.

They come without a price tag,
but not without a cost;
at Calvary, I gave My Son,
so You would not be lost.

Rest Child, and do not grow weary
of doing what is good.
I promise I'll come back for you
just like I said I would.

Your name is written on my palm,
I never could forget;
Therefore, do not be discouraged when
my answer is... "Not Yet"
