I take at their word or deed two eminent theologians:

1. Joseph Ratzinger, whose writings I have found very helpful and
illuminative of orthodoxy, as Benedict XVI must believe in the
Immaculate Conception, the infallibility and universal jurisdiction of
the bishop of Rome, Purgatory and Transubstantiation. Therefore he must
considered not orthodox. Perhaps I should not consider him trustworthy
on on the dogmas of the Trinity or the Incarnation?

2. Geoffrey Wainwright, eminent theologian, as a Methodist must be
understood not to believe in the necessity of apostolic succession to
Holy Orders and rightful sacraments. Otherwise he would be clearly
identified with a church in apostolic succession. And he remains
associated with a church, and does work with the World Council of
Churches, both straying from historical orthodoxy. I must consider him
not to be orthodox. What will it take for him to break with heretical
and apostate Protestantism? Should I read his books?
