And now, for something completely different: http://www.anglican-nig.org/bshpelects_jun2006.htm The Rev Canon Martyn Minns of Truro Parish in Virginia, USA was also elected Bishop in the Church of Nigeria for the missionary initiative of the Church of Nigeria called Convocation of Anglican Churches in North America (CANA). I'm not sure how this fits into doing things decently and in order, but my first gut reaction is that this is rather positive. And also, Pittsburgh is asking for alternative Primatial oversight, like Ft. Worth: http://titusonenine.classicalanglican.net/?p=13954#comments The weird part of this is that he is calling for Pittsburgh and Ft. Worth and whoever will join them to form a tenth Province of The Episcopal Church. In other words, he is calling to stay in communion with ECUSA/TEC, even if it's an impaired communion. It makes me wonder if the years of justifying time and again why they could remain part of the organic ECUSA has dulled some of the senses. On the other hand, if this is just part of a grander plan to eventually completely get out from under ECUSA (they are appealing for non-Schori oversight, after all), it might open them to the complaint of taking an "ends justifying the means" approach. I'm not sure what to think. At least steps are being taken to try to do what's right.
