I don't see how. I understand what Fr. Wiebe is driving at, but the Article and the Augustian principle seems to assume that a jurisdiction acts to correct an erring minister. For Augustine the correction occured when they were united or re-united with the Catholic Church and the Article assumes that the error of the minister (in life or doctrine) isn't published and that it should be published so as to correct the man. It is a real problem, for me, to assume that Sponge's sacramental actions are valid - especially since he has published books that reject the Trinity. I don't see how we could assume that he intended to do what the Catholic Church has always been doing. But I'm not an expert on this issue at all. I have the same problems with it that you do. In the case of Arians, I think the issue is cut and dry.
