As a former Roman Catholic, I can tell you that they do not celebrate Holy Communion from reserve sacrament on Good Friday.  I can vaguely remember the Latin Mass, so I really cannot speak regarding pre-Vatican II, but post-Vatican II, it was not done.

At my church, I do celebrate the Mass using pre-consecrated hosts, but not in the middle of the day.  From 12 to 3, we do the Solemn Liturgy of the Passion and the Veneration of the Cross-no Holy Eucharist.  But I also have a 7 pm Mass for those who cannot come in the middle of the day. And then I do use the reserve sacrament from Holy Thursday.
