In all the discussions (historic and modern) I cannot say the phase
is insignificant or unimportant. I appreciate very much what the East is
trying to preserve in not including it. "From the Father" or "from the
Father and the Son" are BOTH true statements which deny nothing nor
contradict anything of revealed truth in Scripture; BOTH affirm its great
truths. I agree that the West has a fuller statement by the addition of the
filioque and would want it to be kept.

Please finish the following sentence: "The Filioque...

(A) "...should be considered an irrevocable and non-negotiable addition to
the Nicene Creed, constituting an essential doctrinal development in the
Church's understanding of the Triune relations of the Godhead."
(B) "...should perhaps be dropped by Western Christians as ecumenically
insensitive, though it is arguably a biblical doctrine."
(C) "...is at best theologically misleading, and at worst bordering on
heresy; ergo, the West should consider dropping it."
(D) "...is not that crucial a doctrinal matter, so the East should stop
criticizing the West about it because we are not going to drop it."
(E) "...is rank heresy, and should be dropped pronto."
(F) Other .... (Please describe your view).

Thanks ahead of time to those who participate. It will be good to see where

the APA folks are coming from.
