Familiarity,  mostly, and easier to read and understand.   As you may know,
the NEB was prepared under the auspices of the Church of England, the Church
of Scotland, and Methodist, Baptist, Friends, etc., in the UK.  The Revised
English Bible added the imprimatur of the Roman Catholic Churches of England
and Wales, Ireland, Scotland, the Salvation Army, and the United Reformed
Church, among others!  Some members of our congregation objected to the REB.
(I suspect they gave undue emphasis to "Revised" in the title.)  I didn't
think it was worth arguing about, one way or another.)
