We met with the surgeon Wednesday morning, and so far, so good. Her
clinical opinion based on the mammogram, biopsy, and examination is
good: a small cancer at this point. That is provisionally "stage one,"
but we’ll take it! (Actually certain staging isn't determined until the
operation.) the surgeon will know a little more after Monday evening's
MRI, but we will probably not know much more until Dec. 6, our next
meeting with her where she will give us all of the information and we
will decide how much surgery, lymph nodes, etc. Looks like minimum is
a lumpectomy and removal of several sentinel lymph nodes and radiation
at this point. They will be checking the complete chest area on the MRI
scans, so hopefully this will be limited to the area already
identified.

I have sent your emails to Ann and Hannah. It is hard for me to express
to you all how much your emails have meant to us. It is just so
encouraging to know that our friends all over the place are praying for
us. Thank you all for your continuing prayers.

I would very much appreciate your prayers on behalf of my wife Ann. She
has been diagnosed with invasive lobular breast cancer. This form of
breast cancer is uncommon and it affects only 10-15% of all women with
breast cancer. Ann and I will be meeting with surgeons at UVA
Wednesday. At this point we don't know what stage it is and apparently
we will not know that until the surgery which has yet to be scheduled.
We want our parish family and you all praying for Ann's health and well
being. She feels great, but naturally this news is jarring. Our
daughter, Hannah, is in her last year at UVA and this has really shaken
her. It seems like every time I talk to her she is crying. And so am I.
Please pray for Hannah as well. Thank you for your prayers.
