> Dean Scott: One of the great blessings we have in the dilemma you pose
is that we have 2000 years of Catholic tradition ot guide us.

The thing about the woman at the well that has always
impressed me was that she worked as best she could in
the light she had. But when she met the Light she saw
that there were things out of joint and she found the
way to correct them.

One of the things that has always been important to
many of us in the Anglo Catholic inyegrity is that we
not call attention to ourselves.

There used to be a priest in England known to me who
would always throw himself down on his kneeler after
one of his interminable sermons, put his hands over
his face and do God knows what. The attention of the
flock was not on the Altar but on him. I resolved to
do my praying around a homily 'in secret' and the same
idea is why we face the East and not the faithful when
we offer the Holy Sacrifice.

There is no more sublime office than that of the
priesthood for we have the awesome duty to do what
angels cannot do and that is to 'make God' (as Ionce
explained to a Methodist woman inquirer) when we
celebrate.

If we are not doing that then we are wasting our
time. It is as simple as that.

The problem in the world is sin.We do not always
know what it is but weknow what it does. The surest
weapon/remedy against sin arethe Sacraments of the
New Law and it is the priest that confects the 'ad
majorum dei gloria' and for the peopl'e good. That
is what we were called to do in ordination. May we
be faithful to our duty.

The best evangelisation in the world is to bring
someone to Mass. Blessings. MSGR+
