"Ali Gaul es divisi en partes tres."
How about "Veni vidi vici" or "Brittania est insular et Italia est
peninsula.'"

Hah! Thank you John+.
Fifty-five years have passed since a very urbane
refugee from the Big City attempted to teach Latin II
to rural and small town Ohio boys. After a session in
which he introduced us to the mysteries of conjugating
irregular verbs, our Latin teacher would wipe his
sweaty brow with a huge hand and amble off to the
boiler room to take communion. (He had a bottle
stashed behind the pipes).
Why would an obviously well educated man with the
physique of a professional football player be teaching
in a small, class B school? We had few younger men
teaching public school in those days. I can only
recall four. Those men were there because they loved
teaching, and had other ways of supplementing their
salaries.
Thanks be to God for their encouragement and example.
What do I remember? Oh yes, "All Gaul is divided into
3 parts. . . ."
