Fr Wiebe: That is very true. People go where they feel safe. People also go where they feel like "church." I'd like a dollar for every time I've heard "Boy, I like your service and everything, but the building...." as if the building is all there is to the church. Yet as Anglicans we do place a lot of emphasis on the asthetics of worship, a big part of which is the place of worship, since that lends itself to the entire ethos of worship. Just look at the abysmal state of Roman Catholic architecture after the liturgical reforms of Vat II and you can see how it has worked in reverse. As for my own proclivities, if I could get my hands on 13 eight year olds, I'd chuck the organ right out the window! No offense to Bach and Handel, but Byrd and Parsons simply "fit" much better. MLW+
