Fr. Mike+ Thanks for the clarification. Just one last question. You indicate the literary cadences of the RSV are preserved in the Catholic version. Would you say the same in regard to the ESV? So far I haven't had any opposition to the ESV at Good Shepherd. The fact that Packer was on the editorial board impressed the evangelicals who may have been the only one resistant to a modern version. The main reason for change that I presented was the use of the three year cycle to cover more of Scripture and to have it in a language easily understandable. We are fortunate in having three lay readers who read well. So far we have no complaints about how it sounds. From that view point, I am glad that instead of starting with the KJV, we began with ESV. The congregation knows, from the bishop's letter, that we have the choice of using the KJV. However, unless specifically requested by more than 1 or 2, I don't intend to use that option. By the end of summer I suspect that we will have unanimity that the change is for the good and there will be no desire to do otherwise.
