This has been my thinking as well.  Frankly, the Church has elected plenty
of people who, shall we say politely, were not examples of morality.

If Robinson is elected (which is likely but still not definite), then the
Episcopal Church will find itself in a weird position: it will have an
active diocesan bishop who, according to the official position of Ecusa,
will be living in sin.  What will also be interesting will be the reactions,
if he is approved, of the large number of bishops opposed.
