Charles+, The Church of England issue is a sad one. The man appointed to become the suffragan bishop of Reading is an avowed homosexual who has been living celibately for a number of years now and has given assurances that he will continue to do so. There might be grounds for opposing him because of his support for same-sex unions (though he has agreed to abide by the CoE statement on human sexuality). That the man's homosexuality has been made THE issue (mainly by Anglican Evangelicals who tend not to make the distinction between a celibate homosexual and a practicing one as clearly as do Catholics) I think is doing conservatives more harm than good. It is an issue altogether different from bishop-elect Gene Robinson of New Hampshire who makes no apologies for his continuing homosexual relationship. Mark+
