DKD: B2 is not dealing with Western Confirmation, but with presbyterial
post-baptismal anointing, which is something that the Romans have always had, but
Anglicans have only revived in recent years (e.g., 79 BCP). The signing with
the Cross in Baptism is the closest thing in the BCP tradition. What I'm
saying in the outline is that the East gives this post-baptismal anointing, aka
Chrismation, much more importance (it's their "Confirmation"), while in the West
it is more like a sacramental attached to the Baptismal office. Confirmation
in the West traditionally takes place much later, though not originally so.
