Mark+ Your "suspicion" expresses my feeling on the matter. That is why I said there was no call to a "Constitutional Convention." I meant that there was no action taken that is apparently necessary to address the crisis. The old ways of reacting will not produce a timely result. There seems to be no sense of urgency of changing old ways to prevent disaster. John XXIII in all candor admitted that his old church needed to "throw open the windows". The reforms that were urgently needed have had good effect and continue. Arguably, JPII is a third world Bishop. It was unthinkable in the years prior to VAT II that one such as he could rise to the throne of Peter. The RC church is no longer captive to a small group of Italians. Upon his death, it is possible, due to the reforms and expansion of the college of cardinals, that JPII's successor may be from Africa or other third world country. The Anglican Communion is still young. It appears to me not to have shed some of its ways that were developed in the days of British supremacy and imperialism.
