Brothers+ The definition of Diptychs reminded me of a story about a young neo-pagan who attended a Baptist Church to please his family. When the congregation was singing "When the Role Is called up yonder I'll be there, he felt the sentiments compromised his convictions. He hated to the thought of singing a lie so he made a sign that indicated his understanding. As he sang the words, "When the role is called up yonder, I'll be there" he was pointing with arm and forefinger extended toward the ground. Charles+ --------------------- From the Oxford Dictionary of the Christian Church Oxford Press, 1958: DIPTYCHS. The lists of names of living and departed Christians for whom special prayer is made in the Greek and Latin Eucharistic Liturgies. Though until recently read secretly in the West, in early times the diptychs were recited publicly, and the inclusion or exclusion of a name was held to be asign of communion or of excommunication. The term is derived from the two-leaved folder(Greek:diptuxon) within which the lists were written. See also Book of life. -----------------------
