BTW, would one of the more learned fathers care to explain the three
different oils used in the church, their origin and reasons, etc? I believe that the oils are blessed by the Bishop at an anual service <snip>
Do y'all do the service mention above? I've never heard of it in the
REC...maybe in the mid-west...Dr. D.+?

Now for something completely outrageous. I daren't ask forgiveness, but I thank you for making my day.

Again, I don't know the answers to your hard questions, but in regard to the 3 oils, I'll explain how we use them at St. Dympha's by the Dump.

We used one of the oils at a Holy Thursday Footwashing and healing service for those bi-peds who have discomfort walking. One of the vials worked well in removing plantar warts.

We used a second vial to loosen a sticky valve that was giving the Tuba player fits in our brass band that played at the Carols and Readings Service.

The third admirably oiled a sticky lock on the sacristy door.

Perhaps the more learned clergy to whom you referred will give us more insights, while I duck and run. 8-)
