Mike+,

I think it would have been hard to come up with "the best ticket," at least
in the Western Church at large. The publishing companies will just publish
those translations and editions for which there is a market. When I worked
at Barnes & Noble, the best sellers were not particular translations, but
the gimicky ones like "The Bible for Teenagers" or "The Bible for Working
Moms." Fascinating to see how Scripture has been catagorized and marketed
according to self-identities. In fact, we're seeing fewer and fewer Bibles
marketed to Church parties (Evangelical, Catholic, etc.) and more and more
to fairly artificial cultural identities. And, of course, all of this is
done in order to make a buck for the publishing company.
