Mike+, I think it would have been hard to come up with "the best ticket," at least in the Western Church at large. The publishing companies will just publish those translations and editions for which there is a market. When I worked at Barnes & Noble, the best sellers were not particular translations, but the gimicky ones like "The Bible for Teenagers" or "The Bible for Working Moms." Fascinating to see how Scripture has been catagorized and marketed according to self-identities. In fact, we're seeing fewer and fewer Bibles marketed to Church parties (Evangelical, Catholic, etc.) and more and more to fairly artificial cultural identities. And, of course, all of this is done in order to make a buck for the publishing company. Mark+
