One of the things some of us like to do is read a book together and
discuss it. We've tried it on this list, but it sort of died for lack
of interest.

I've proposed working through a work on spiritual formation on the
Society of St Augustine list, perhaps a work by Ss John of the Cross or
Teresa of Avila, or Francisco de Osuna, or Walter Hilton, or someone
like that. From a more contemporary slant, perhaps a work by Thomas
Merton or the book "Reaching for the Invisible God" by Philip Yancey
would be of interest. If practical spiritual formation isn't of
interest, we could always restart the discussion that Fr Mark was
leading about NT Wright's book about St Paul. I think the list would be
open to any suggestions.

Anyone of you who might be interested in a book discussion should go to
the "Groups" list on Yahoo, type in "StAuggy" and join the list. We
could then decide what to read/discuss. If for some reason you cannot
connect, send me an e-mail and I'll get you signed on. I'm the
owner/moderator of the list.

The only thing I'd like to mention is that the list is hosted by our own
Society of St Augustine. And even though I can't imagine an instance
when it would come up, please bear that in mind should the temptation to
"Auggy-Bash" overtake you.

By the way, as an alternative to posting on a list, those of us who
wanted to discuss a book could also simply use Yahoo's "Instant
Messenger" feature (it's free) and have real-time discussion. Any
discussion would not be archived, though.

Any interest in doing this?
