Brothers+ Shortly after WWII, while we were still involved in armed conflict on the Pacific Rim, a book of prayers from a variety of sources was assembled. John Wallace Suter was one of the contributing editors to "The Book of Prayers" published by Avenel Books in 1954. Harry Emerson Fosdick wrote an introduction that included this paragraph. Charles+ ------------------------------- A troubled generation like ours, that makes a heavy demand on our resources, calls for prayer. Action, output, work--to this strenuous side of our lives our era appeals. It fairly shouts at us about duties, responsibilities, obligations. Yes, but a tree must have deep roots if it is to have strong branches. Even an airplane, with all its powers of flight and speed, is useless without ground service. The more the output, the greater the need of replenishment and intake--that is law universal, nowhere more manifest than in personal experience. Anyone who in a time like this hears only the call to go all out is sure in the end to find himself all in. H.E. Fosdick __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
