I think Mark+ makes a good point about the Commission can only make
recommendations. By that standard there is "no teeth" no matter what they
recommend.
I disagree with the British-ese way of looking at the language though. As
Mike Ward+ and I were discussing, this would then require the orthodox from
throughout the world to also "regret" what they have done providing safe
harbor. I don't think Abp. Akinola and other will accede to this and
apologize for being orthodox.
All the folks from throughout the world are well aware that you cannot
nuance language with Americans (Canadians must be included for they have the
same stripe within themselves) and if you watch Abp. Akinola's language, he
is very clear about his intentions for he is well aware of who needs to hear
him.
I think the language of the report is not helpful in any way, as the ACN and
FIF have already stated in their initial reactions and I'm afraid the
Covenant idea is so far in the future that it is essentially useless.
Mark+'s assessment of open warfare is "spot on" but I think it is going to
be more world-wide now that there is no definitve answer in the Windsor
report.
