I think you're right. It probably has to do with our theological origins in the humanist revolution and the high regard given to rationalism. Yesterday in my Bible study, we had a fruitful discussion of scientia vs. sapientia...Anglicanism, like our Protestant cousins, have been too enamored with the former and not enough with the latter.
