Leal+ I'm feeling a bit testy today myself. Apparently the welcoming committee has shrunk to Fathers Mike Ward, "Chip" Harper, Will Griffin and me. And what a motley crew we are. But it is glad company. Everyone else must have taken a week's vacation after the Unity Synod. Welcome. You know the rules, they are few. Don't spit on the floor or tear up the furniture. Send plain text and no photos. Drop a line to the list now and then so that we know you're still with the Church Militant, otherwise some fool might think you've transcended this earthly plane and try to have you beatified. I suspect Fr. Mike just got home from a day's work, as did I. While we belly up to the imaginary bar (mine in Indiana, his in Florida), I would like for you Texans to correct my 5th grade social studies texts. I remember a picture in either a history or geography book that depicted the signing of a peace treaty under an Oak Tree in Texas. Now tell me true. Is there a really a "Treaty Oak" in Texas or is it like the mythical "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" reported by a certain Sidney Greenstreet? I've been to Brooklyn and other than an occasional potted plant in an office, saw no trees there. I drove from Hayes, Kansas through the Texas Panhandle to Dallas-Ft. Worth for a week one day, and saw no tree large enough for the Mexicans and Texans to stand under while signing a treaty. And that business about "hang em high" ala the Hollywood Western Movies; it would have to be a wee little feller that could be hung from a mesquite bush! Are there trees in Corpus Christi? And while you're at it, tell us about yourself and Providence Reformed Episcopal Church. Welcome! Charles+ -- To unsubscribe, send ANY message to: faithandlife-unsubscribe@...
