Do you have Zahl's "A Short Systemic Theology"? If you do look at pages 23 
through about 37 and you will see how he deals with not only the Sacraments, but 
also the Scriptures. He denies the "objective" mediation/presence of grace by 
these means and in fact compares it to Voodoo. If you don't have the book I 
can copy out these pages for you, but that will loose some of the context. I 
don't mind carrying on this conversation off-line at all.
