Chris+,
The purpose of this list long predates this past June's Synod/GC in Orlando; and although I've not contributed much, this had been--with occasional blips--a place of positive camaraderie. I don't see anything wrong with missing that, and I don't see anything wrong with your (and mine too) desire to manfully contend for truth and work out theological positions. The honest thing is to say it's not impossible, but very difficult, to maintain both goals on this semi-impersonal medium of email if we keep to only one list.

That said, my preference is for one list, this list, wherein we take special care to respect our brothers regardless of theological incinations. Email is well documented to be conducive to a greater rudeness than in face-to-face communication. For example, I don't think you would say to me in person that I am unmanly and/or dishonest for thinking there are two difficult-to-reconcile goals at work here, but it's possible for me to (mis?)interpret your latest post as saying just that.

Finally, since you may not know where I'm coming from, I'm in agreement with the statements that came out of the Unity Committee and believe the REC and APA are compatible.

Peace to you, Greg+

I'm rather perplexed. As someone who was originally added to the list as a
by-product of the GC in Orlando, I thought the purpose of this list was so
that both sides could get to know one another better through honest and
manly exchange. That you desire to disengage over the pursuit of an honest
  answer is rather unfortunate.

That said if honest and manly exchange is out of bounds...then there is
little purpose in it, isn't there? Tell me if I'm wrong. Furthermore, what
does that say about our two jurisdictions drawing nearer? Are we going to
hear..."perhaps there is an alternative" each time that there is even minor
disagreement? What sort of ecclesiastical marriage is that?

  Every blessing,

  Chris

Perhaps an alternate list-serve would be appropriate (for either one)?

I must say that I used to enjoy this list simply because of the camaraderie
and the mutually edifying messages. It seems to me it has become a
battlefield akin to the late War of Puritan Aggression. I am very close to
asking to be removed from it.

Besides, there's work to be done out there...satan is dragging souls to hell

and all we can do is sit behind our computers all day long bashing each
other. Something is wrong with this picture...don't see much of Jesus in
  it, I'm afraid.

  Brothers+

Can't we please just let this sort of stuff alone? Can't we stop calling
one another "crypto-Zwinglians" or "crypto-Romanist" or anything else? Or
at least implying it, if not directly making those charges?

  Please?

There really hasn't been much of edification on this list for months.

So what about substantiating your charges against Dr. Zahl?
