Guys:

Since I'm the one that started this, let me just say that my appeal had
nothing to do with theological discussion. It did, though, have everything
to do with name calling and being contentiousness sake. And it really makes
no difference if it comes from the APA or REC sides of the house.

Read the original post. That's all I meant.

Charles:
If this forum is just to sugar coat issues and let everybody make
believe every thing is fine in Dodge City - then it is impotent and of
no-effect in helping us come to some understandings between our separate
jurisdictions. It is nice for us to be able to communicate, but
obviously that is restricted to just non-threatening issues. And I
obviously misunderstood the intent and the extent of the invitation to take
part in such discussions.

Obviously someone has struck a nerve, and it makes be wonder about the
hidden agendas that are apparently at play. I certainly don't speak for the
REC, or even for all the priests in my own parish, but I think if there is
going to be serious dialog about merger between the clergy we need to be
theological honest and direct and open.

So, if concern about particular issues or churchmanship is offensive
and truth is to be parlayed into niceties, then maybe we should all excuse
ourselves and go to Celtic Evensong, where we at least know with whom we are
drinking - let alone praying.

     Jack.
