Gentlemen,
I have attached an image of the bulletin from the Rev. Richard Henry Lee's morning prayer and sermon for the 22nd Sunday after Trinity, Oct. 28, 1956.
It appears to me that Mr. Lee (first cousin to Robert E. Lee, a few times removed, as he told me) opened with sentences from page 3, continued through the service, delivered a sermon, took up collection, and finished with "closing prayers and benediction."
That's how I remember it from childhood.
In Snow Hill we had communion once a month, unlike St. Thomas in Reidsville, where I sang in the choir for a year or two.
